Is Palisade Palms actually beachfront? Yes — directly on the Gulf, with no seawall, no road, and no street to cross between the building and the sand.

In Galveston, many properties advertise as "beachfront" while sitting on the inland side of the Seawall Boulevard — guests must cross a busy road and descend the concrete Seawall before reaching the beach. Palisade Palms is different. The building sits directly on East Beach (also called Grand Beach) at 801 E Beach Drive, Galveston, TX 77550 — one of the only locations in Galveston where guests walk from the building to the sand with no street crossing required.

Is the beach in front of Palisade Palms vehicle-free? Yes. East Beach in front of Palisade Palms is a no-car zone — no trucks, no ATVs, and no vehicles on the sand. This is rare in Galveston, where vehicles are permitted on most beach sections. The result is a quieter, safer beach environment for families, children, and guests of all ages.

There are no stairs required for daily routines: beach trips, pool time, groceries, and luggage all happen without a single step.

How do wheelchair users get to the beach at Palisade Palms? Through a fully ADA-compliant route with no stairs:
1. Take the elevator to Level B Garage
2. Follow the vehicle ramp to the beach access door
3. Cross the private ADA-accessible dune walkover bridge — a gradual ramp to the sand

Wheelchairs, motorized scooters, and strollers all make the crossing comfortably. All building entrances and elevator thresholds are zero-entry. The fitness center, game rooms, and coffee bar are on single-level floors with wide wheelchair clearance.

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Palisade Palms with a gorgeous view of the beach. We spent hours walking on the beach and relaxing on the spacious patio just watching and listening to the waves. We played pool and shuffleboard in the game room and worked out in the weight room. Could not have found a better better place for a most relaxing vacation!

First 4 years we had a disabled member with us and your access to the beach was great. We have two granddaughters with us and your game room and regular pool have been welcome attractions. Lastly, we feel safe in your complex.
